"Let them eat cake," she said,
Just like Marie Antoinette!
I meant to post this earlier in the week, but I was too busy eating cake!!
You know how it is sometimes. You've been leafing through the Nigellas over a cup of tea and there are SO many yummy-looking cake recipes that you just can't decide which one to try.....
So I tried two!
The Chocolate Orange Loaf Cake
which came out exactly like the picture in the book, even unto the sunken middle!
It was nice, but I don't think it's Nigella's finest chocolate cake recipe. It also wasn't as nice as the chocolate cake I made from the recipe link on Carrie's blog, so I won't be adding this one to my favourites list.
The Rosemary Remembrance Cake
was a different matter. Quite plain with a very subtle rosemary flavour, it was beautifully moist and looked wonderful - just like the one in the book in fact. (Can you tell I still can't quite believe I can cook anything that will turn out looking like the one in the book?!). It was just what I imagine middle class ladies living in charming Cotswold villages in the 1930s would have eaten with their afternoon tea!

I totally understand your disbelief at things turning out the way they look like they should - it's always a rare occurrence in my house too!
I reckon, as long as it tastes good, it's all OK.
I'd forgotten about that chocolate cake... oh if only I wasn't on a diet!
I have always been rather partial to your cooking whatever it looked like :-)
