By the rivers of....

...Aude.

I know it doesn't have enough syllables to scan,

but you wouldn't believe me if I said Babylon, now would you?

Today's adventurous activity for The Young Master was canyoning.

Until today, I had no idea what canyoning was.

I now know it involves putting on a crash helmet...

...and a wetsuit....

...and following the course of a river along the bottom of a canyon.

In this case it was the River Aude flowing through the Gorges of Galamus.

Even viewed from the safety of the road above the river,

the scenery is stunning.

Following the river involves some swimming, some climbing, and some plunging into pools along with the waterfalls.  The eagle-eyed among you may spot Athos joining in.  Anyone who has ever tried to prevent an Australian sheepdog doing something he's determined to do, however daft, will understand that we tried to stop him!

David seems to be enjoying the whole adventure!
