Yeah....right! I'm not aware of a song with the title "I'm just an idle trollop, baby", which is what I am because I haven't updated the blog properly during the height of summer.
I'm claiming as contributory factors: the lack of a proper summer in France (we've gone from baking hot to heavy rain and back again for the past few weeks); all the neighbours at La Folie arriving for the summer, thus necessitating lunch parties that start at noon and end at midnight!; some lovely guests at the B&B, many of whom stayed for several days and required feeding, which required the cooking of such delicacies as deep-fried courgette flowers stuffed with soft cheese, sundried tomatoes and capers and, my own invention, individual blackberry pavlovas (yum!); and the fact that I'm an idle trollop!!
As a little catch-up, here are a few highlights of high summer at La Folie.....
The breakfast table at La Folie, all ready for the guests to appear.
The spread boasts several varieties of homemade jam, Lemon Curd La Folie (very popular!), and lurking on the sideboard is a big jar of homemade granola.
The evidence that it was hot some of the time.
34 degrees Celsius at quarter past three in the afternoon.
Even that kind of heat doesn't explain why people think boules is a good idea!
(The fact that the adults had partaken of liberal quantities of "Soupe Champenoise" before, and possibly during, lunch may offer an excuse!)
Stephane is usually a responsible adult.
Usually....
The ear that was stung by a wasp!
Athos, who was so hot that he got into the drinking fountain and slurped around himself!
Athos and Lady swimming after a stick in the pool below the little waterfall.
Our friend, Dominique, introduces Kevin to the delights of the quad bike.
As I type this, there's an almighty thunderstorm going on outside, and Kevin is in the sitting room listening to Tony Blackburn's "Pick of the Pops" with Athos.
Time for a cup of tea, I think.....

I love the spoon + fork decorations on the kitchen wall! And Athos is adorable.
It's good to read your updates!
P.S.: Did you get my letter?
