I made my very first "Buche de Noel" - from scratch.
As ever, thanks to Saint Nigella!
It was decided that the "Reveillon" party chez Guy and Mylene would at least in part be in "fancy dress". We just decided to spend the whole evening dressed up to the nines.
The dinner jacket seemed to have the desired effect. Here's Kevin trying (and failing) to fight off the beautiful Chloe.
Chloe's Mum, Mylene, went for the full-on Avengers look.
Move over, Emma Peel!!
Not quite sure what look Stephane was going for,
but I don't think it was working!
Lest you think we overdid the alcohol last year, here are ALL our wine corks,
from 1st January to 31st December 2011.

Looks like you all had a 'corking' good time *groan*
That yule log looks good, I've got a nice recipe for a white chocolate one that I might give a go next year (we were away at Ian's parents for christmas so I didn't do any baking).
Also loving the corks - I counted the corks in the 2, there are far less than in the 1's so you'll not be drinking as much this year I guess!
Such a cute pic of the corks!! I'm 'hovering' by my mailbox!! Have a super 2012 and drink more winr (I plan to!!)
HUGS! geri
I counted 147 corks! That's not even 3 bottles a week... Not as bad as I expected. Haha! (No, I didn't think that you were an alcoholic, why?)
That photo of you and Kevin is lovely. I want to steal it, print it, frame it and put it up on my wall. Seriously!
Ta bûche de Noël a l'air tellement délicieuse!!!!! Miam! J'ai faim!!!
And why do you write "dear reader" without an "s"? According to the comments on this post, there are at least 4 of us! ;)
Julie, I could go all literary and say that Charlotte Bronte in Jane Eyre famously wrote, "Reader, I married him" - and she has millions more readers than I do!
It's either because I'm never sure if anyone other than the ever-faithful Anita reads my blog or because "dear reader" singular is specially addressed to the person who is reading it at that moment. You choose!
I blog just for you Lisa. All of the other readers of my blog are people I see every day, so sometimes they're there when I do things (like the rainbow party), so I kind of get into a 'what's the point of blogging this' mood but then I remember you and I blog away. Hope that makes you feel special!
I'm deeply touched at having a blog just for me! I'm almost certainly not your only reader, just the only one who leaves comments!
That said, I love your blog!! I'm specially enjoying the daily photo - little glimpses into someone else's world. Lovely!
Saw this today and thought you might be able to make use of all those corks.

What a lovely thing! Thanks for thinking of me!!
I'll have to keep the idea for next year, as all my corks were sent off to Florida in January for a swap-bot pal who needs LOTS to make a cork wreath.
Also, looking at the bauble, I have a horrible feeling it might not be entirely dog proof......
