Belly-cicles and Birthday Cards

When I got back from walking The Hairy Boy on Wednesday, his belly hairs bore witness that there was still a lot of snow on the ground.

Having been prevented from getting up the hill for two days by the white stuff, La Poste bravely made it through on Wednesday, bringing me some lovely birthday post.

A pressie parcel from my Mum, a letter from penpal Paula in the USA (who makes the most wonderful envelopes) and a fat envelope brimming with generosity from the lovely Julie in Canada.

Julie loves owls, has lovely handwriting, designs wonderful stationery, has an absolutely beautiful blog for snail mail addicts like me, and clearly panders to my love of LARGE stamps!!

Julie designed and had printed sheets and sheets of return address labels for me.  Aren't they wonderful?  BTW, the cute little chap peeping out amid the contents of the envelope is Julie's son, Louis-Justin.

So, anyone reading this who also receives snail mail from me can look forward to one of these lovely stickers very soon!

Exciting post! I joined swap-bot in an attempt to get more exciting post, but I'd get stressed out about some of the swaps I'd agree to, and then when I'd spent all that time stressing and making something I'd like to receive and then getting something not as good back, or not getting rated, it didn't seem worth it so I decided to give it up (also, wedding planning took over too).

I must say, Julie's handwriting looks so lovely - it's so perfect it looks like a great font printed from a computer! I share her love of owls so that was the most exciting looking piece of post from your picture in my opinion.

You are very lucky!

I know what you mean about swap-bot for some things. I've given up "public" swaps because I've been flaked on too often and now stick to group swaps, where the swappers are better monitored. I'm currently stressing a bit because I'm doing a "31 Letters" swap for a long letters group - will I get all 31 finished in time for the deadline????

I'm fascinated by Julie's handwriting. I don't know how she keeps it so utterly neat and even. Mine's neat, but next to hers it looks all over the place!!

BTW, if you like owls and ever write letters, you might want to treat yourself to some stationery from Julie's Etsy shop called "Monsieur Hibou" - hibou being French for owl.

if you want to throw yourself in temptation's path.....

Yes, Julie's handwriting is beautiful. Mine is awful; I've pretty much given up doing joined-up it's so bad :-(

I can't NOT do joined up. It takes me so long to write without joining it up, that I forget what I wanted to write half way through the sentence.

As the old boss Trevor once said as an excuse for something he'd forgotten to do, "It's not anorexia, it's the other one!"
